Currently, the preliminary edition of the reader has a foreword,
introduction, appendix and includes only three of Will's works. Future
expanded editions will include other papers and materials from Will's
life.

Willard ("Will") Marshall Miller, Assistant Professor Emeritus of
Philosophy, began teaching at the University of Vermont (UVM) in 1969. A
tireless educator and activist, he died of cancer in 2005 at age 64 before
officially retiring from UVM.
Born in Chicago, Miller dropped out of public school at age 17 to
enlist and serve in the U.S. Army Security Agency for three years. After
getting his GED, he studied at the University of Illinois earning his
Ph.D. in Philosophy.
Miller built his own home in Westford, Vermont, was a proficient
electrician and left a legacy of community service and public engagement.
He was involved in numerous academic, labor and political organizations
including the Radical Philosophy Association, John Dewey Society, Green
Mountain Veterans for Peace, United Academics (AAUP/AFT), Society for the
Philosophical Study of Marxism, Green Mountain Fund for Popular Struggle,
Burlington Area Draft and Military Counseling, Vermont Cuba Committee,
Haymarket People's Fund, Committee in Solidarity with the People of El
Salvador and the Global Justice Ecology Project. He advised student
organizations including the Radical Student Union and SPARC and taught
classes on Marxism, the philosophy of education, American philosophy,
radical ecology and utopian societies. His articles have been published in
Monthly Review, Transactions of the Charles S. Peirce Society, Earth
First! Journal and the Vermont Vanguard Press.
The Will Miller Reader collects articles from his academic work,
community service and political activism.
